Jacob Abrams started his journey into music under the guidance of composer, critic, and pianist Dr. Myrna Schloss at the young age of 5. There he studied piano, music theory, and eventually composing. Through Schloss’ teaching, Jacob performed solo piano recitals around New York City, including shows in Steinway Hall. For four years, Jacob studied under renowned avant-garde composer Dr. Doug Ovens, and composed pieces for Muhlenberg College’s orchestra and chamber ensembles, as well as pieces for their percussion ensemble using homemade instruments by the physics department. Under the guidance of pianist Michael Toth, Jacob fell deeply for impressionist pianists, shown in his work “Dream Cycles” and his classical songs project based on the poems of E. E. Cummings.
